This page brings together a few organisations and services that may be useful if you need support outside counselling.
These resources are not a substitute for therapy, medical advice or emergency help. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999.
If you need urgent help now
If you feel unable to keep yourself or someone else safe, call 999 or go to A&E.
If you need urgent mental health support but it is not an immediate emergency, contact NHS 111 and select the mental health option.
Samaritans
Call 116 123 for free, confidential emotional support at any time of day or night.
Shout
Text SHOUT to 85258 for free, confidential text support if you are struggling to cope.
Domestic abuse and safety
If you are frightened of a partner, ex-partner or family member, or feel controlled, threatened or unsafe, specialist support is available.
National Domestic Abuse Helpline
Call 0808 2000 247 for free, confidential support, 24 hours a day.
If you are in immediate danger, call 999. If you cannot speak on a mobile call, press 55 when prompted to let the operator know you need help.
Mental health and emotional wellbeing
NHS mental health support
The NHS website provides information about getting urgent help, accessing services and looking after your mental health.
Mind
Mind offers information and support for a wide range of mental-health difficulties, including anxiety, depression, stress, crisis planning and finding help.
Money and debt
Money worries can place significant pressure on individuals, couples and families. Free, independent support is available.
StepChange
StepChange offers free debt advice and support with managing debt.
Citizens Advice
Citizens Advice provides information on debt, benefits, housing, employment and other practical concerns.
